Little May

LITTLE MAY
The other week I was listening to Radio One, when I happened to hear Fearne Cotton play this beautifully serene, wonderfully gorgeous song. Turns out it was 'Dust', just one of many other insanely beautiful songs by the Australian band Little May. The all female trio that constitute the band, which is kind of like an incredibly chilled out Haim, are Liz Drummond, Hannah Field and Annie Hamilton, each of which contribute a stunning vocal that are then layered together to form the basis of Little May's sound. Then throw in some guitar, folky dreamlike overtones and harmonies, a touch of synthesizer, and a little bit of magic, and you're almost there. The band are relatively new to the music scene but are surely bound to do incredibly well, and the fact that they hail from Sydney, could well be the reason why their music is so chilled, stunning and just blissful to listen to. Little May make the kind of music that's perfect for a Sunday, a weekday afternoon where all you want to do is close your eyes and escape the world, the cusp of the evening which brings with it the magic of the night yet to come. The lyrics are clever, unique, and stunning when delivered in Little May's signature style, the music is oh so captivating and perfect, and when put together the two are something else entirely. They're a truly brilliant band, and so to celebrate such a refreshing and promising arrival on the music scene, here are some of my favourite Little May songs for you to enjoy.

If you love Little May, you might be interested to know that their self-titled début (yay, more Little May!) came out on the 10th of October 2014, and is available for purchase here.
