SHINTARO OHATA
I was flicking through Instagram a few minutes ago, for about the hundredth time today as per usual, when when on of the many art accounts I follow posted about a Japanese artist called Shintaro Ohata.
Now I'm normally blown away by amazing art of any kind, but there's something about Shintaro's work that just takes it to a whole new level.
Shintaro's (how cool is his name by the way?!) work is compiled of both 2D and 3D elements, with the 3D element consisting of gorgeous cartoon like sculptures that are strategically, effectively and effortlessly placed in front of the most magically hued 2D paintings, with the two combining to make the overall end piece of artwork. Within his work Shintaro aims to capture every day scenes in one's life, such as popping to the shops, waiting for the bus, the end of the night as it blends into dawn, and depict them all in a beautiful, cinematic fashion. Shintaro's work is just mesmerizing to look at, a real and utter privilege and I can honestly say I've never seen anything like it, which is why I wanted to share some of my favourite pieces of his with you...
If you want to waste the day (or night) submerged in more of Shintaro's gorgeous 3D work, or marvel at his equally amazing 2D acrylic pieces, just click your mouse riiiight here.
