NICKI MINAJ, ROBERTO CAVALLI S/S 2015
I was doing my gazillionth Daily Mail scour (yes I am completely addicted to that site) when out of the corner of my eye I saw a little photo of Nicki Minaj. Except the funny thing was, it didn't really look like Nicki, or at least not the Nicki we normally see in the media. The booty was firmly tucked away, as was the rest of her body, and instead she was clothed demurely, yet in a way that seemed to celebrate the beauty of the female figure without giving away all is secrets. And so with the curiosity bug having bitten, naturally I clicked on the link and came across these simply stunning photographs. As it turns out, Nicki has been named as the brand new face of Roberto Cavalli's Spring/ Summer 2015 collection, a choice that seems a tad unusual until you see these campaign shots, taken by esteemed photographer Francesco Carrozzini. From the mesmerising photographs above, it's clear that Nicki is a real divine beauty and evidently knows how to contour and present her body in front of the camera lens. Her beautiful, curvaceous female figure perfectly enhances Cavalli's gorgeous clothing, and personally as a fellow young woman I find her self-confidence and body confidence to be particularly inspiring when it comes to embracing my own curves and assets.
It's wonderful to see a high end fashion campaign celebrating the real female form, with Nicki proving to be such a wonderful and deserving choice to lead it. And if that wasn't enough, the aesthetics of this campaign are absolutely incredible. I adore the marriage of the retro sixties imagery with the luxurious cultural backdrop that intertwines perfectly with the theme of Cavalli's gorgeous new line. Everything about this campaign is perfect and oh so beautiful, I really can't think of another way to describe it, and hats off to Nicki for doing such a spectacular job in Cavalli's campaign, and to Cavalli himself for crafting such divine pieces of clothing.
