A LONDON HEATWAVE
On Wednesday my sister and I had to head down to London for a drama school open day. All good until we realised that this particular visit, which had been planned months in advance, unbeknown to us fell on the day that just so happened to be the hottest July on record. Therefore we were greeted to the capital by temperatures of 37 degrees Celsius, an encompassing humidity and rays of beautiful sunshine that eventually turned a dull grey sky into a wonderful warm blue hue. London is a truly gorgeous place to be, and in the sunshine it just gets even more spectacular however when you factor in the humidity, it can be a little bit suffocating, to say the least... But, irrespective of soaring temperatures, I loved the chance we had to experience summer in the city, and that we got to enjoy the beautiful weather we've been waiting for, for so, so long, in one of our absolute favourite places in the world.
Because of the heat and our impending visit to Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, we didn't have much time to explore London and visit all of our favourite haunts like we'd normally do, or visit anywhere new, however we did manage to squeeze in a visit to Regents Park, a little exploration of Swiss Cottage (and a cheeky visit to Maccy's for the most blissful ice cold strawberry milkshake I have ever had in my life ever), a walk along the South Bank and Embankment, a quick trip to Tesco's for some tea and a teatime picnic in St James' Park (our favourite park in London). So all in all I think we did pretty darn good, and even though I ended up getting a heat induced headache, it was absolutely worth it because I just had the best day and I've gotten an even bigger appreciation for the beauty of our capital city. And with that, here are some of my favourite pics from the day for you lovely people to have a little look through...
