David Hockney

David Hockney
I'm kind of embarrassed to say this, especially seeing as I've just gotten an A Level Art qualification, but basically today I discovered and have subsequently been enlightened by the work of British artist David Hockney and boy am I in love with this guy's work, like propaaaaaa' madly in love. David's artistic style predominantly comprises of the two artistic elements that I adore the most: colour and pattern, and when I look at his work I feel this little feeling in my chest, almost like David's art is pleasing my soul to some extent (wow that was deep wasn't it?) and now I'm kicking myself that I haven't been captivated by the Hockney artistic magic sooner.

So let us all just spend the next couple of minutes getting lost in this truly incredible artwork by one of the greatest artists ever.

Ah, now wasn't that nice? :)

Erm I like Erdem (2014-15)

Erdem
So today I discovered the fashion label Erdem, and it turns out that I really, really like it/ him rather a lot. The label Erdem is named after chief designer and creator Erdem Moralioğlu, who is Canadian and also of British and Turkish descent (pretty cool huh?). He creates the most gorgeous designs and collections, no doubt shaped with some of the expertise he gained whilst interning for Diane von Furstenberg and Vivienne Westwood (whaaat?!), and his designs for AW 2014-15 are just too lovely to not share with you all, as are all his other beautiful designs from previous seasons, and so with that here they are...

Arthur Elgort Appreciation

Arthur Elgort
Today I wanted to celebrate the absolutely fabulous (and no that wasn't an intentional reference to the equally amazing TV show) and stunning work of fashion and beauty photography Arthur Elgort. I only happened to stumble across this incredible photography talent and legend because I follow his son, Ansel Engort, aka. Augustus Waters from the film version of 'The Fault In Our Stars' (and on whom I have a bit of a crush on, man he  makes me swoooooon ok), on Instagram.

Although right now I'm really puzzling over why I haven't actually come across Arthur's work sooner, because I have completely fallen in love with it all; he's just my kind of photographer.

Arthur's photography work is fashion orientated and in my opinion there's just something about his photography that to me captures the true spirit and essence of the fashion industry, or more like the side of it that I think should be more emphasized. Arthur's photographs in my opinion are  the most perfect, candid, beautiful and joyful observations of the fashion industry and I'd love to share a couple (ok more than that) of my favourites with you because they are just woooooooow.

Can I just say that this has been the hardest post I've ever had to finish, because I could literally post Arthur's entire back catalogue on here and spend all day trailing through his work I just love it so much.

Arthur Elgort, Sir, you are an absolute legend and inspiration to us all.

Vintage Postcards
I don't know if you can tell but I'm juuuust a little bit in love with these vintage postcard designs and hopelessly wishing that they still made postcards like these! I love the colours, the retro vibes, the illustrations, the photography and the attempts of the artists to capture the magic and essence of the place in question. Nostalgia at it's pure best :)
