A MONTH OF NEW MUSIC
Hello my lovelies! Can you believe that it's already July?! I know I can't. News Years Day only seems like it happened the other week. The fact it was actually 7 months ago makes me feel a bit sad, a bit amazed, a bit like I've suffered short term memory loss because it all seems like a blur. It also feels like so. much has happened in that short space of time, almost like my life has been condensed right down and neatly packaged up into monthly chunks. Have I been living my life to the full? You bet I have. And I know it sounds weird to say, but even in the last seven months I feel like I've changed again. I feel like a different version of me. Who I was even in April, seems more like an old friend now, and if someone could tell me how and when that happened, and why I'm changing so fast without even realising, it would be much appreciated. I might even give you some homemade cookies too.
So to celebrate another new month in this light year (at least that's how it feels), I would love to share with you dear readers this month's new music playlist, which I have lovingly curated for you all to enjoy. It's a mix of new songs from all kinds of genres and realms of music, and I've got some well established names rubbing shoulders with the newest of the new. People who are super duper mindbogglingly talented, but who are only just making a name for themselves now. Some of my personal favourites are Declan McKenna, The Tin Pigeons, and The Bay Rays, all of which you should listen to for that guitar led, indie, singer-songwriter vibe. Volbeat, who are death metal heaveeeeeeen (and I don't even normally like death metal). Christine & The Queens if you want kooky electro-soul pop, Bugzy Malone for slick northern grime (MCR represent), and Loyle Carner for smooth, addictive, self-assured rap.
There are some right bangers out there, dear readers, and as always, the emerging new talent makes me very, very excited about what the future of music holds. It's always so interesting to see and hear how the music scene continually evolves, with the new talent in particular highlighting which genres and artists have had the most far-reaching impact on the youth of today. What has inspired people most, and how has that rich diversity of influence intertwined to create a multitude of fresh and new stylistic combinations? As always, new music is having a moment, especially off the tailcoats of Glasto, and I hope you enjoy dipping your toe into the new musical waters and seeing what you find...
